AFRICANFAB
ARTIST/FABRIC DESIGNER/ACTIVISIT Kweli Kitwana’s work often stimulates profound resonation among African Americans. She credits her childhood and elders as a source of inspiration. She holds a unique mastery of mixing bold colors and symbolism along with her familiarity of concepts and themes representing the African American. Kweli may choose the use of simple or complex scene to orchestration design. Her powerful images explore cultural, political and historical commentary with contemporary styles and forms. Kweli’s work is devoted to the design with purpose of inclusion into other artist’s crafts, in hopes of building an affirming collection of contemporary African American fabrics. Currently, Kweli is authoring a book focused on technology and creative narrative. She has authored and designed multiple K-12 classroom resources, curricula, and programs. She teaches fabric design classes at schools, community programs and online.
