African American Fabrics: Indigo City Fabric

                                                                                                                             I love indigo!!
Indigo was the foundation of centuries-old textile traditions throughout West Africa. From the Tuareg nomads of the Sahara to Cameroon, clothes dyed with indigo signified wealth. Women dyed the cloth in most areas, with the Yoruba of Nigeria and the Mandinka of Mali particularly well known for their expertise. Among theHausa male dyers, working at communal dye pits was the basis of the wealth of the ancient city of Kano, and they can still be seen plying their trade today at the same pits.
I've been thinking about using indigo in a design for some time. Recent, reflections of evening walks on the Chicago beaches and the bright lights of the skyline, has inspired me to create the NEW "Indigo City" fabric design. NOW AVAILABLE!!
