Hmmmm... What if Harriet Tubman and Frida Kahlo met? I am working on a new series of paintings testing some painting techniques for possible fabric. While in the process I came across a few clips of some of my favorite women. This work is a mix media painted on a salvaged fabric swatch from a upholstery fabric sample book (y'all know I love my upcycling). But, this one really really got me to thinking... What if...Harriet Tubman and Frida Kahlo met? What would they share with one another? What would they talk about? How will they compare their lives? Would Ma Moses' approve of Frida's art? Would Frida stow away a run away slave?
BTW...with a little gesso those fabric swatches make excellent painting canvas!
